Wideman Lands In Calgary, Signs Extension

The Flames acquired defenseman Dennis Wideman from the Capitals on Wednesday in exchange for AHL defenseman Jordan Henry and a fifth-round pick in the 2013 NHL draft. Wideman then signed a five-year deal worth $5.25M per season, the Flames announced.

Lightning Acquire Pouliot From Bruins For Ouellet, Pick

The Lightning acquired forward Benoit Pouliot from the Bruins in exchange for forward Michel Ouellet and their fifth round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, vice president and GM Steve Yzerman announced today. Pouliot, 25, played in 74 games with the Bruins last season, collecting 16 goals and 32 points to go along with 38 penalty minutes. The forward has skated in 257 career NHL games with the Bruins, Wild and Canadiens, collecting 53 goals and 104 points. He was originally selected by the Wild in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Leafs Trade Schenn To Flyers For Van Riemsdyk

The Maple Leafs announced Saturday that the team has acquired left-winger James van Riemsdyk from the Flyers in exchange for defenceman Luke Schenn. "We are really excited by the parts of the game that James will bring to the Leafs," said GM Brian Burke. "He will provide speed, size, and finesse to our top two lines and we know that he fits those needs that we have wanted to address for some time. We thank Luke for his tremendous on and off ice contributions to our organization. He's a true professional and we wish him the very best in Philadelphia." Van Riemsdyk, 23, collected 11 goals and 13 assists in 43 games for the Flyers in 2011-12. He has 47 goals and 52 assists for 99 points in 196 NHL regular season games. Schenn, 22, scored 14 goals and added 61 assists in 310 career games with the Maple Leafs. He was the fifth overall selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Coyotes Trade Ruopp, Cheverie To Pens For Michalek

Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced Friday that the Coyotes have acquired defenseman Zbynek Michalek from the Penguins in exchange for defenseman Harrison Ruopp, goaltender Marc Cheverie and the 81st selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Michalek registered 2-11-13 and 24 penalty minutes in 62 games with Pittsburgh this season, while leading the team in blocked shots (144). He collected one assist and blocked nine shots in six postseason games. Ruopp recorded 2-7-9 and 127 PIM in 62 games with Prince Albert (WHL) this season. He was selected by the Coyotes in the third round (84th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Cheverie split the 2011-12 season between Gwinnett (ECHL) and Portland (AHL).

Ducks Acquire 2013 Pick From Isles For Visnovsky

The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired a second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft from Islanders in exchange for defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky. Visnovsky, 35, appeared in 68 games with the Ducks last season, scoring 27 points and 47 penalty minutes. Acquired from Edmonton in exchange for Ryan Whitney and a sixth-round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft on Mar. 3, 2010. Selected by Los Angeles in the fourth round (118th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Visnovsky has played for the Kings (2000-08), Edmonton Oilers (2008-10) and Ducks (2010-12) during his 11-year NHL career.

Stars Trade Ribeiro To Caps For Eakin, Draft Pick

The Stars traded center Mike Ribeiro to the Capitals in exchange for Washington's second-round pick in the 2012 NHL draft and center Cody Eakin. The trade means the Stars have three picks in the second round of this year's draft (Nos. 43, 54 and 61), which began Friday night in Pittsburgh.

Penguins Trade Staal To Hurricanes

The Penguins didn't wait to negotiate a new contract with Jordan Staal, trading the center to the Hurricanes on Friday night for center Brandon Sutter, defenseman Brian Dumoulin and Carolina's first-round pick, the No. 8 selection. The Penguins used that pick to take defenseman Derrick Pouliot of the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL.

The Blue Jackets have acquired goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky from the Flyers in exchange for second round (No. 45 overall - previously acquired from Phoenix) and fourth round picks (No. 117 - previously acquired from Vancouver) in the 2012 Draft and a fourth round pick (previously acquired from Phoenix) in the 2013 Draft, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and GM Scott Howson announced today. Bobrovsky, 23, has appeared in 83 career NHL games with the Flyers, compiling a 42-23-10 record with a 2.73 goals-against average and .909 save percentage. He posted a 28-13-8 record with a 2.59 GAA and .915 SV% in 54 games in 2010-11 and went 14-10-2 with a 3.02 GAA and .899 save percentage in 29 games in 2011-12.

Lightning Send Caron To Predators For Lindback, Wilson

The Lightning acquired goalie Anders Lindback, as well as forward Kyle Wilson and a 2012 seventh-round draft pick, from the Predators on Friday. Lindback played in 16 games this season for Nashville, going 5-8 with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. The Predators received goalie Sebastien Caron, two second-round selections in this month's draft and a 2013 third-round pick from Tampa Bay.

Sharks: Wings Send Stuart Back To Old Team

The Red Wings gave Brad Stuart and the Sharks a head start on completing a reunion for next season. Detroit sent the potential unrestricted free agent defenseman back to his original team in San Jose on Sunday in exchange for forward Andrew Murray and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2014. Stuart had made clear that he wanted to be closer to his family, which still lives in San Jose, and now he gets three weeks to negotiate with the Sharks before possibly becoming a free agent July 1.
